Hi friends, my Sydney holiday ends today and we’ll be heading to the airport at mid-day. I had a wonderful time but my journey doesn’t quite end here. I’m flying to Bangkok and Singapore, so it would be a week more before I get back to wintry Tokyo.
I thought I would share with you a look that I’ve been wearing almost on a daily basis while I was here. I took this picture of myself in my second week and I’m even more tanned now than what you see. I’ve a strong feeling that I won’t reach a winter pallor much this year because I’ll be back in sunny Australia through the summer, methinks.
It’s so weird that I’m back to sporting lighter colours and darker base makeup while most of you are probably relishing reds, ox blood, earthy blushes, against pale skin.
Anyway, it’s a sun-kissed look with subtle rose gold highlights. The main product I used for cheeks and eyes is the Bobbi Brown Rose Gold Shimmer Brick Compact. I believe it is a limited edition product that was released in Feb 2012 so I couldn’t believe my eyes when I found it at the airport in Thailand!
After priming my eyes, I put on a light layer of the Chanel Illusion D’Ombre 82 Emerveille, then used the colour from the fourth strip, a shimmery champagne rose shade, as an all over shade and lined the outer corners of my eyes with this too. Following that, I smoked out the edges with Urban Decay’s Nevermind shade from the Vice Palette. I highlighted my browbone with Anonymous and blended out any sharp edges. Finally, I used the yellow strip (second from the top) to highlight the inner corners of my eyes.
To highlight my cheekbones and nose, I swirled my brush over all the colours in the shimmer brick and lightly applied the rose gold.

I’m in love with the subtle rose gold sheen in this look. I never thought I would reach for this product because it seemed too pricey for just a highlighter but you can use the various strips as eyeshadow too — it’s such a fantastic multi-tasker and perfect for travelling.
